This morning Madison's parents visited our school with their pets, "Bobby," the pony, and "Apollo," the Great Dane.
Mrs. Peters told us that the Great Dane is actually Pennsylvania's state dog! He's a big guy - tall enough to reach a kitchen counter top!
We noticed Apollo panting, and Mrs. Peters told us that this is how he cools himself in the heat.
Bobby requires a lot of work. Mrs. Peters said that he has to eat 2 times a day, and he needs to be brushed and cleaned (groomed) daily. Just as we need to trim our fingernails, Bobby needs to have his hooves trimmed. She told us that the person who comes to trim Bobby's hooves is called a farrier. We were able to pet both animals and each of us even got to feed Bobby a baby carrot! My! What BIG teeth he has!
The children of Mrs. Molter and Mrs. Messick's class and Mrs. Davis Carbone and Mrs. Turrisi's class send an excited "thank you"!
