As a thank you to Mrs. Molter and Mrs. Messick's class for donating the most coins for the "pennies for patients" program, they were supplied all the ingredients to make cookies this morning! The class is talking about plants at this time, and Mrs. Molter pointed out how the cookies could not have been made without plants as the source of many of the ingredients. Cows and hens (who indirectly supplied the butter and egg) eat grass and seeds, vanilla comes from a plant, as do DO flour and sugar. After mixing the dough, it was rolled out and each of the children got to cut the dough with an oval cookie cutter. It took a long time, but each child helped to stir the dough by hand, and also got a feel for using the electric mixer! After the cookies baked and cooled, the children used colorful icings to decorate their "eggs!" They were a wonderful treat for dessert after lunch.
